About the organisation

Healthwatch Sandwell is the local independent consumer champion for health and social care services. Its job is to champion the consumer interests of those using health and social care services in Sandwell and give local people an opportunity to speak out about their concerns and health care priorities. It ensures that the views of the public and people who use the services are considered by those who commission and provide services. Healthwatch Sandwell has a statutory seat on the Sandwell Health and Wellbeing Board, which brings together influential people from Sandwell Council and the NHS. Healthwatch Sandwell has various statutory powers and duties to make sure that services meet local needs and the views of residents have a real impact. As a consumer champion, it builds and improves on the work already done by Local Involvement Networks, which it replaced. Since 1st April 2019, HWS has been managed by Engaging Communities (E.C.). Engaging Communities is an independent community interest company, specialising in social research and community engagement. They believe in putting the public at the heart of what they do. Healthwatch Sandwell is commissioned by Sandwell MBC Adult Social Care. Healthwatch Sandwell is supported by Healthwatch England, the national organisation that supports all local Healthwatches.
