Service aim: To support a positive transition to secondary, by increasing emotional health and well-being and supporting school engagement Intended Outcomes: • Mentees will be better able to recognise potentially harmful relationships and situations. • Mentees will be able to name and describe healthy relationship qualities. • Mentees will show improved self-esteem and confidence. • Mentees will more positively engage with their new secondary school. Target Group Criteria: Year 6 children who are at risk of disengaging from education and experiencing 1 or more of the following issues: • Struggling to form and maintain friendships. • Vulnerable to exploitation and/or lacking in awareness of how to keep themselves safe and ask for help. • Exhibiting unsafe behaviours or associating with negative peer groups in the local community • Family/siblings history of offending. • Disengagement from learning in Year 6 • Compromised emotional health and wellbeing. • Low self-esteem or confidence Session Content: • A pre and post Emotional Health and Wellbeing questionnaire which screens for areas of concern and risk around mental health • Therapeutic talking space (advice, guidance, and education) about relevant issues which are currently affecting the young person emotionally and socially. • Activities, games and tasks to support solution finding, developing strategies for emotional regulation, increasing confidence, positive decision making, psychoeducation, resilience building and improving emotional literacy. • Facilitating the hearing of the young person’s voice with all involved professionals and working towards improved understanding between the mentee and adults within the educational setting • Education (where necessary) around RSE, weapons and the law, the reality of gang involvement and prevention of CCE • Signposting young people to positive activities and opportunities outside of school • Regular communication with the referring agency and attendance at multi agency meetings, when necessary, in the best interests of the young person • Weekly feedback for all mentoring sessions provided to all relevant professionals Krunch requires: • An electronically completed referral form for all new referrals to enable us to assess if we can meet the needs of the pupil before mentoring commences. • Parent/carer consent • A confidential space in school to work in • A main school contact person in both the referring school and the Head of Year 7 in the intended secondary school to send feedback to and liaise with #SEND

About the organisation

Krunch is a voluntary sector youth organisation based in Langley, Sandwell. It was established in September 1998. Working with local churches and schools, we provide:-alternative education - personal development: programme flor 14-19 year olds: a church interactive package - supporting local churches: in engaging with young people.
