Krunch mentoring content will include (depending on referral information, content will be tailored appropriately for the individual): • A solution focussed and trauma informed approach with the young person’s voice central to the work • Mentees will assess their current life situation using Outcome Star at the beginning and end of intervention. Outcome Stars incorporate goal setting and action planning • A pre and post Emotional Health and Wellbeing questionnaire which screens for areas of concern and risk around mental health • Therapeutic talking space (advice, guidance and education) about relevant issues which are currently affecting the young person emotionally and socially • Activities, games and tasks to support solution finding, developing strategies for emotional regulation, increasing confidence, positive decision making, psychoeducation, resilience building and improving emotional literacy • Facilitate open and honest discussion around issues which are currently affecting day to day life at home, in education and the community • Supporting pupils to have open and honest discussion around issues such as: Self Esteem and confidence, Healthy Peer Relationships – Power and Control, increasing self-awareness of own identity and culture/ seek positive relatable role models and developing empathy • Education (where necessary) around weapons and the law, the reality of gang involvement and prevention of CCE . Optional accreditation via AIM qualifications: encourages self awareness, achievement and the development of relevant life skills • Signposting to specialised services where necessary e.g., mental health, GP, sexual health in conversation with school staff Krunch requires: • An electronically completed referral form for all new referrals to enable us to assess if we can meet the needs of the pupil before mentoring commences • Parent/carer consent • A main school contact person to send feedback to and liaise with Target Group… aged 9-19 years • Pupils who have low confidence, low self-esteem and difficulties expressing, understanding, and managing their emotions • Pupils who struggle to make and maintain relationships. • Pupils who exhibit challenging and/or unacceptable behaviour towards peers and authority figures • Low level mental health issues such as low mood and anxiety • Pupils with identifiable risk factors which affect safety and educational engagement, such as: grooming, exploitation, bullying (online/in person) negative peer group, challenging family circumstances, low attendance, and engagement • Any other issues which compromise a student’s emotional health and well-being, such as grooming, exploitation, bullying (online/in person) negative peer group, challenging family circumstances, low attendance, and engagement long-term health conditions, grief and loss, school performance worries, loneliness, and isolation etc… Main Intended Outcomes of Krunch Mentoring: • Mentees will show a greater understanding of self-care techniques and how to keep themselves safe and healthy • Mentees will have improved mental wellbeing • Mentees will be able to better regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour more successfully • Mentees will show an increased ability to plan short term goals and foresee a positive future • Mentees will show an increased understanding of functioning healthy relationships • Mentees will more positively engage with education (We may aim for a combination of outcomes with the mentee, or different outcomes as agreed with the referrer, depending upon the unique needs of the student and issues arising in school) #SEND

Krunch is a voluntary sector youth organisation based in Langley, Sandwell. It was established in September 1998. Working with local churches and schools, we provide:-alternative education - personal development: programme flor 14-19 year olds: a church interactive package - supporting local churches: in engaging with young people.
